Overview

DailyEd ("we", "our", "us") is an educational platform that helps teachers create and share interactive classroom activities. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service.

Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile information you choose to provide. When you use DailyEd, we collect information about the activities you create, share, and publish, as well as interaction data when students engage with shared activities.

We automatically collect basic usage data such as browser type, device information, and pages visited to help us improve the service. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide and improve DailyEd's services, including authenticating your account, delivering notifications when students interact with your activities, and personalizing your experience. We may also use your email to send important service updates.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share limited data with service providers who help us operate DailyEd (such as hosting and email delivery), and these providers are contractually required to protect your data. We may disclose information if required by law.

Connected AI Assistants

You can choose to connect a compatible AI assistant to DailyEd. Public classroom templates do not require a connection. Before an assistant can access your account, DailyEd shows the permissions it requests and asks for your consent.

Depending on the permissions you approve, the connected assistant can receive your teacher account ID and display name, read activities you own (including quiz answer keys), create activities in your account, and publish activities when you ask. The integration does not provide access to student responses or grades, billing changes, account administration, or activity deletion. Content and account information returned to your assistant are also subject to that provider's privacy policy. For ChatGPT, the provider is OpenAI; see OpenAI’s Privacy Policy. For another assistant, consult that provider’s policy before connecting.

Activities created through an assistant stay private until published. Publishing creates a student link that anyone holding the link can open and makes the activity discoverable in DailyEd's public search. Do not include student names, identifiable student work, grades, education records, health information, or other sensitive personal information in prompts or activity content made available to an assistant. Although the integration does not retrieve student-response records, personal information you put in a teaching prompt or activity can still be shared as part of that content.

To maintain and secure a connection, we store account and client identifiers, approved permissions, timestamps, and hashed credentials. Pending consent requests expire after ten minutes, authorization codes after two minutes, access tokens after at most one hour, and refresh tokens and connection grants after thirty days. Client registration records expire after one year. Expired integration records are removed automatically; database cleanup may occur shortly after expiry.

You can revoke a connection on the AI connections page. Revocation stops future access through that connection and removes its stored grant and tokens. It does not delete saved classroom activities or information already received by the assistant provider. Contact us using the address below for account or content deletion requests, and use the assistant provider's controls for data held by that provider.

In-App AI Generation

When you select Generate activity on DailyEd, we send your topic, selected activity type, and grade band to Anthropic’s Claude API to produce teaching content. For chat refinements, we also send the current draft’s teaching content and up to six earlier successful requests from the current conversation. We do not include your teacher profile, other activities, or student responses. The generated content is validated and saved as a private activity in your account for you to review. Do not put personal or sensitive student information in your topic.

We use Anthropic as a service provider for this feature. Under its commercial API policies, inputs and outputs are not used for model training by default. Anthropic generally deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days, with exceptions for safety enforcement, legal requirements, or a different contractual arrangement. See Anthropic’s commercial data retention policy and model-training policy. DailyEd does not promise zero retention by the provider.

The generator does not keep a separate prompt or response transcript in DailyEd’s database. Chat turns remain in page memory until you leave or reload; a link to the activity can restore its latest saved draft. Generated activities remain saved under the content-retention practices below. Each in-app generated activity records the generating account ID and generation timestamp, and successful chat refinements record an account ID, timestamp, request hash, and input fingerprint to enforce monthly AI allowances, including when the activity is marked deleted. To prevent duplicate requests, we keep the account ID, a request fingerprint, and the resulting activity ID for up to 24 hours. Temporary generation locks expire within two minutes; abuse-prevention counters expire within two days. Database cleanup may follow expiry. If you start a topic before signing in, it is temporarily saved in this browser tab to restore it after sign-in; it is discarded on the next generator visit after one hour or after successful generation. It is not sent to Anthropic until you submit generation while signed in.

AI Data Processing and Model Training

When you use a connected assistant, your conversation is handled by that provider. DailyEd receives the information the assistant sends in a tool request, such as search terms, activity identifiers, titles, questions, answer options, correct answers, and classroom prompts, and returns the requested results. The connection does not automatically give DailyEd your entire conversation history. Information included in a tool request is processed to fulfill that request, enforce account permissions and limits, and protect the service.

DailyEd does not train a generative AI model on tool requests, private activities, generation prompts, or student responses. The external-assistant connection and the in-app generator are separate: the in-app generator sends the information described above to Anthropic. The assistant provider may process and retain information you send it or receive through the connection, and its model-training practices depend on its terms, your account type, and your settings. DailyEd does not control those settings or promise that a third-party provider will not use information for training.

Activities saved through an assistant are stored in your DailyEd account like activities created on the website; they do not expire when an AI connection expires. The integration does not store a separate conversation transcript. Saved content remains until deleted through the Service or an account or content deletion request is processed. For deletion requests, contact privacy@dailyed.app; the account-deletion request process is described below. Provider-held conversations and copies must be managed separately using that provider’s controls.

For connection security and abuse prevention, DailyEd also processes request metadata and keeps temporary rate-limit counters keyed by a hash of an IP address or account identifier. These counters expire within two minutes for ordinary tool and token requests and within two hours for client-registration requests; database cleanup can occur after expiry. Our hosting providers also process network requests to operate and secure the Service. Connection records and counters are used for authentication and abuse prevention, not advertising or behavioral profiling.

You can use DailyEd without connecting an assistant. Choosing not to connect does not prevent you from creating and sharing activities through the website. If we introduce additional AI processing with materially different data handling, we will update this policy and provide any notice or choice required before that processing begins.

Student Data

We take student privacy seriously. When students access shared activities, we collect only the minimum data necessary to deliver the experience and provide interaction reports to the teacher who shared the activity. We do not use student data for advertising or marketing purposes.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest. However, no method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

You may access, update, or delete your personal information through your profile settings at any time. If you wish to delete your account entirely, please contact us at privacy@dailyed.app and we will process your request within 30 days.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences (such as dark mode). We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the service or by email. Continued use of DailyEd after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
